Jane Pestell-Litten
is a West
Australian fine artist working primarily in the traditional mediums of
charcoal and water-colour,or oils on linen and canvas. Jane’s work is
exclusively figurative (whole and portrait). Her charcoals are large and
lively, strong in line and style, often incorporating water-colour.
She is driven to capture the brilliance of the
West Australian light and paints in the style of Realist/ Photorealist
movement. Her work depicts the actuality of what the eye can see, yet allows
for subject ambiguity to enable individual interpretation. Her work is held
in numerous local and international private and public collections.
Janes exploration of everyday characters,
situations, and the dilemmas of commonplace themes aims to encourage us to
reflect on the beauty of those otherwise overlooked “ordinary” moments that
are the threads of our lives. |

For more than sixteen years Beate has created
artworks in water colours, acrylics, objects, Digital Photo Art, Collages
and Mixed Media to capture the beauty of nature and to unleash human
expressions.
As an artist , I believe that colour has the power to affect our wellbeing
to inspire and to stimulate our minds.
Working with Acrylic and Mixed media on
Canvas/board gives me the freedom to create colourful images that are
simple, contemporary, intuitive and symbolic. |

ARTIST COMMENT
The past four years have been spent
exploring ‘connections’ between people, in my ongoing series of work called
Random Spaces.
The first Random Spaces show was at the Warwick Henderson Gallery, Auckland
in 2003. A planned second exhibition was never shown in its entirety – the
works proving too popular to enable me to pull together a full show.
Over time, my painting evolved into a group of works entitled ‘Portals’.
This explored not only the connection between random groups or individuals
but set up a stage involving various layers of perception.
Within the overall Random Spaces paintings a series evolved titled Beach
walking, again exhibited at WHG. These works concentrated on the fine
balance between the environment and us, best captured by the three Omaha
inspired works called ‘You can’t ignore the houses’.
